The Essential Being Retreats are based on the philosophy of holistic health and are centered on connectedness and slowing down to ultimately bring you back to balance within your body and mind. What you will gain at these retreats, which you cannot learn from any textbook, is a unique blend of techniques and strategies structured around the Essential Being Model.  These retreats will take you on a unique journey to experience our 5 Stages of Shifting into Being.

The Mind

The Essential Being Model will bring you into balance. You will be able to take this model back into your daily life so that you can learn to be more in the present moment, realise that you are not your thoughts and be kind and more gentle with yourself. Your time at the retreat will also teach you that your thoughts are not facts, and that thoughts come and go like waves in the ocean.


By moving through the 5 Stages of Shifting into Being you will learn that although you cannot control the mind, you can learn strategies so that your mind can not control you. The ultimate goal is to help you deal more skillfully with the stresses and strains of daily life.

Our Experience, Knowledge and Global Connections

The Essential Being Model has been developed over 5 years of extensive research into the field of mindfulness, meditation and yoga and through personal experiences of ancient techniques and traditions. These methods are ones that we have found to be the most effective in helping us all shift into our Essential Being.  


Our philosophy and practices are based on teachings by Buddha, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Ayurveda, Yoga Sutras, Psychologists, Counsellors, Yoga and Meditation around the globe including countries such as Burma, India, New Mexico and Cambodia.

AYURVEDA

Alongside the Essential Being Model you will be introduced to the principles of Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of healing, and this will work alongside our model to explore areas of health and wellbeing. By discovering your own unique Dosha type, we will be able to tailor your diet, movements, oil massage therapy and meditations to suit you.

Like Ayurveda, we will also take into consideration the daily cycle of nature and the seasons, by offering only seasonal fresh and local produce, because like nature, our body has inbuilt cosmic rhythms and cycles. By working in connection to nature, you will be able to maintain a natural state of health and bliss to balance your Dosha type.

OUR 5 STAGES OF SHIFTING INTO BEING

Awareness of Stillness

This retreat will allow you to take time away from your normal routine, to stop and let your mind and body be still. We will create a space where you will have time for silence away from “noise” and unhealthy stimulants including technology, drugs and alcohol, and particular foods including red meats.

Awareness of Body

We will guide you through certain practices that get you to focus and bring attention to different areas of your body. These techniques will help you feel into your body and build up this muscle memory so that you are able to use this awareness any time throughout your day.


Awareness of Breath

We will introduce you to two forms of breathing techniques – one will get you to focus on the breath flowing in and out of your body naturally, while the other breathing practice will get you to learn to control your breath through deliberate physical movements. This second, more active breathing technique will get you to engage your parasympathetic nervous system, to switch off your flight or fight response and to get you into a calmer state of being.  


Awareness of Senses

We will give you the opportunity to engage in activities to bring your awareness to the sensations of the body as well as to your surroundings, to help you to live in the reality of the present moment.

Awareness of Gratitude

We will ask you to change your perception so that you can bring about feelings of love, appreciation and gratitude throughout your body. This change of mindset will get you to start noticing the subtle warm sensations and feelings throughout your body, and then you can start to appreciate the things you have rather than the things you do not have.

Our retreat is a unique opportunity to slow down, reconnect, rejuvenate and learn techniques and practices to maintain balance when you return to your daily life. Among the trees, we will teach you techniques to help you unwind from the pressures of daily life and stress.
