Parent & Toddler Yoga

This class is all about building the foundations of yoga for you and your child. It is a time to connect deeply to each other, to your body and your breath while practicing some fun yoga poses you can try together. 

Each week we will start off with teaching your child to slow down the body and then simple breathing techniques – using the breath as an anchor when they feel big emotions. 

We’ll then teach you yoga poses you can do together – the aim of these poses is to develop balance, gross motor skills and coordination, neurological pathways between the left and right brain hemisphere – and to have fun!

This is also a great opportunity to model yoga to your child as well as dedicating time to connect to each other and simply just play!

Children’s 6-9 yrs classes

These classes are a little bit different in that we start to introduce children to the W.A.T.C.H.E.R – a check-in tool, to start developing awareness of their thoughts feelings and actions. 

Generally we start with a pause to begin the class and acknowledge the body through stretches, and do some breathing exercises. We next get them to check in with how they are feeling and then teach yoga poses based on the different emotions. We usually reflect on the class by guiding them through a short meditation. 

Developing capabilities to become the W.A.T.C.H.E.R allows children to build self-awareness rather than getting caught up in their thoughts, feelings and actions – they then learn to respond to situations, rather than to react to them!
